On the 26th of October, the Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) announced the Horizon 2020 Awards. The premise was to reward Maltese beneficiaries for having participated in research and innovation projects within the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme.
The scheme recognised the achievements in nine different award categories, eight for legal entities and one for individual researchers. The award categories were: (i) Best Impact for Health; (ii) Security or Smart Mobility Award; (iii) The Blue Award; (iv) The Green Award; (v) The Climate Award; (vi) Gender, Culture, Equality or Citizen Science Award; Best Innovative SME Award; (vii) Best Promotion of STEM Award; (viii) Best Technological Innovation Award; and (ix) Most Active Researcher Award.
The VENTuRE project submitted evidence of its aims & outcomes in relation to the Maltese maritime industry in application of the Blue award. The collaborative effort was a cojoined UM-NAS initiative, with NAS as the official representatives. The VENTuRE submission was kindly awarded the winning application by the panel of judges.
